Latest Review

I always find it interesting reading the reviews that people leave after reading my novel "The Unwilling Recruit".  I am, however, in the fortunate position of not having received a bad review so far.  This is not a situation I expect to last.  There is no possible way that I can expect my work to resonate with everyone who reads it.  I will, however have as much respect for poor reviews as I do for the good ones.  Ultimately I have to accept that and appreciate that those who write a poor review have taken just as much time and effort to share their thoughts with me as those who write good ones, and I have just as much to learn from them.

So, on to the reason for this post.  As you might have guessed by now, I received a new review today, and I thought I'd share it with you.

"A book that is full of weird and wonderful surprises.  A gripping
story from cover to cover, a very dark and mysterious, action-packed
read.If you are interested in all things dark and unexpected and even
if not, this book is definitely well worth the read.  Definitely not what
I was expecting which made it all the more enjoyable!  Thank you
and well done John!  Can't wait for the next instalment."

Aimee Shenton.

Thank you Aimee.  I am so glad you enjoyed it and incredibly thankful that you took the time to share your experiences.

Final cover reveal.

So it has been some time now since I have posted anything here and you could all be forgiven for believing that the lack of posts is indicative of a lack of progress on my novel "The Unwilling Recruit" .

Nothing could be farther from the truth.  There has been a huge amount of activity going on "behind then scenes", as it were.  The amazing team at TopShelf Publishing have been working tirelessly these past months.  The novel has been edited to within an inch of its life now and we all believe we finally have the product ready to put before you, the public.

The first step towards that is the amazing cover that the extremely talented Keith Katsikas has designed for me.

So, here you are folks.  I really hope you like this first look at the new and much improved novel (I know I do).

Teaser for Book 2 of "The Armageddon Wars"

Hello there.

Assuming everything goes to plan then I intend to release my second novel in "The Armageddon Wars" series at some point next month.  The book will be titled "Fool In The Ring"

With that in mind I thought a little snippet from the up-coming novel was in order.  So, here it is:

“So what do you think happened here?”  She asked.
“It has all the hallmarks of a mugging gone bad.”  Cunningham answered.
“Go on.”  Jane pressed.
“Well, “  Cunningham continued slowly, mentally creating a sequence in his head that would fit the evidence.  “Your man Hunt was wandering around here late at night and the boys saw an opportunity for an easy take down.  They jumped him, fought and one of them hit him with a rock.”
“Why do you say that?”  Jane asked.
“We recovered a blood soaked rock from the scene and there was a substantial pool of it on the grass.  Since neither of the victims showed any external signs of an injury that could have produced that level of blood loss, it’s a reasonable bet the blood belongs to Hunt.”
“Okay.  So what next?”
“That’s where it gets a bit tricky.”  Cunningham admitted.  “Cause of death for both victims is unclear.  We know that Griffiths died here, while Marshall made it to the river.  We’ve got a blood spatter trail leading to the waters’ edge as well so it’s a good bet that Hunt chased Marshall into the water.  Marshall got caught up in the trees further down, maybe Hunt didn’t.  I’d say it’s even money he washes up further down river.”
“You think he’s dead as well?”
“I wouldn’t be surprised.”  Cunningham admitted.

Jane was impressed.  In all but two particulars, she figured Cunningham had pieced together an accurate sequence of events.  He hadn’t mentioned a third assailant however.  From the footprints around the scene Jane felt sure there was a third man, or boy, one who survived and managed to get away.  The other fault in the Inspectors reasoning concerned Hunt himself.  Jane knew of his abilities and, therefore, knew the cause of death for the two unfortunate teenagers.  She didn’t believe for a minute that Hunt had simply died in the river and been washed downstream like some piece of errant flotsam.

I hope you all enjoyed that, please feel free to leave comments or questions.

For those of you who took advantage of the promotions that have been run over the course of this past month for the first book in the series - "An Unwilling Recruit", I sincerely hope you are enjoying it and, of course, I would be eternally grateful if you would take the time to leave a review on Amazon, even if it is only a few words.

Many thanks for your continued support and Happy reading.

Debut Film Release

Cam Girl

The debut film Co-produced by myself through my company  Red Sky Productions goes on official DVD release in the US and will be available to buy through Amazon.

This is a great little thriller, short on budget but big on content and it is already receiving some great reviews.

Having taken the leap from acting in movies to forming my own production company and making movies, this is truly an exciting time for me.  I am very proud of my contribution to this film and very thankful to a man who has become a good friend and working partner Philip Gardiner for having trust and faith in me.

This is the first of hopefully many films to be produced by us so look out for us in the future.
