"An Unwilling Recruit" - Review

My first novel, "An Unwilling Recruit" is now available in paperback and has already received its' first customer review, and a five star one at that.

"From the first page it starts to build characters well, then it really grabs your attention, everything and anything goes and it's well worth the ride along.
Well written and compelling.
Has a nod to an american werewolf in London in the first part, however it is a great original idea which flows well and leaves you wanting more."

"An Unwilling Recruit" - Available to Buy

My first fictional novel is now published and available to purchase.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sean Connor, Kat Durber, Darren McAree and Annie Leadley for their invaluable help in creating the cover artwork.  Thanks also go to Jin Sandhu for their generosity in providing the Kilworx as a venue to work in.

Here is the final result :

It began with an explosion in the desert.  John Hunt, freelance reporter, and his camera-man partner, Andrew Johnson, should have both died that day.  Miraculously one of them survived.

Now, six months later, Hunt has left hospital with the intent of putting the remnants of his life back together.  Unfortunately that would not be as easy as he imagined.

A surprise visit from his dead partner convinces Hunt that his life has changed, he has changed and, more importantly, the world itself has changed.  With Andrew acting as his macabre guide, Hunt is drawn into a part of the world he never knew existed, a dark, hedonistic world, where nothing is ever quite what it seems.

"An Unwilling Recruit"

Work is progressing well on my third book, "An Unwilling Recruit".  This is my first fictional novel and I hope to have it finished and published by the end of this month.  In preparation for that I offer you all a little taster of what is to come.  I hope you enjoy.

Suddenly a single shaft of light erupted from above the dance floor creating a near solid beam to the floor at its center.  At the same time the silence was rudely shattered by the dramatic sounds of classical music.  It was a classic arrangement of string and brass taken from the fourth movement of Anton Bruckners’ eighth symphony.  A steady rhythm that built rapidly towards a natural crescendo.
As the music played, the excitement level within the room increased, all eyes turned towards the center of the dance floor where a hole gradually opened, almost two meters in diameter, the radius of the single light increasing to match it’s dimensions.

There was obviously some form of riser beneath the dance floor as, amidst smoke and light a figure began to rise up through the opening.  She stood erect with head bowed.  As the smoke slowly dissipated Hunt was able to make out more details.  She was small and slim, almost waif like, her arms hanging loosely by her side.  Dressed only in what appeared to be a single piece of diaphanous silvery material, draped over her left shoulder and tied loosely at the waist, there was very little to hide her slender figure.  The material sparkled in the steady light and was completely open at the sides revealing large expanses of pearly white flesh.  Her rich red locks hung in loose swathes, flowing like rivers of fire across her shoulders and back.

"A Caring Christmas"

Moving rapidly on from the good feedback I received for my first book "Caring For Mum"  I have now released my second book in this field  "A Caring Christmas"

"For the last three years I have been the Primary Carer for my Mother following her stroke.  We have faced many challenges during this time.  By far the greatest challenge for me, however, has been trying to explain to people exactly what it is that I do as  a Carer.

This book is my way of meeting that challenge.

For seven days over the Christmas period I maintained a diary of events, thoughts and feelings in the hope that it would help inform people of what the life of a Carer is really like.

This is that diary."

The book is now available to purchase from AMAZON

It is available in both print and Kindle versions priced £4.29 and £2.97 repsectively.
